TN Craft Position Opening for Member Services and Marketing Manager

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:

Communications

  • Establish and execute marketing, advertising and communications plan for organization and biannual fairs
  • Serve as media relations liaison
  • Plan, develop and coordinate all print promotional materials
  • Oversee publishing online directory (monthly) and printed directory (yearly), print newsletter (quarterly), and e-newsletters to members and supporters (monthly).
  • Write copy, edit and update website and blog.
  • Oversee website maintenance and development
  • Manage Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram and Pinterest
  • Maintain consistency in all print and digital communication

Membership Management

  • Input/update member information into database (Salesforce)
  • Ensure member mailings are sent within schedule and rebates calculated and distributed quarterly
  • Manage membership renewal campaign annually
  • Manage communications with chapter officers across the state and serve as staff liaison on membership committee and to chapter presidents
  • Coordinate annual professional development workshop for artists with help of committee
  • Administer and analyze annual survey (Survey Monkey)
  • Organize and produce annual Chapter Presidents’ meeting, updating Chapter Manual as needed
  • Assist as needed to ensure Chapter activities support strategic plan, as needed

Administrative

  • Maintain database and provide reports as needed
  • Take initiative to field phone calls and assist with general questions
  • Process mail and manage office supplies
  • Oversee outsourced work related to communications
  • Serve as integral team member for on-site fair logistics including serving as chapter tent coordinator

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing or related degree
  • Experience in business administration and public relations
  • Proficient in MS Office programs and facility for learning new technology as needed
  • High degree of professional independence, initiative, self-discipline and integrity
  • Strong verbal, written* and interpersonal communications skills; demonstrated ability to communicate with, engage, and inspire a wide range of audiences

Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • General knowledge of marketing and public relations
  • Adequate technical knowledge related to website updates and blog posts (WordPress), electronic newsletters (Mail Chimp) and database management (Salesforce)
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop
  • Knowledgeable with social media platforms
  • Ability to plan and organize own work; effectively manage deadlines and follow-through with tasks
  • Customer service skills, including ability to problem solve and handle difficult situations
  • Monitor and manage relations with vendors and community partners, as needed
  • Ability to multi-task

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Passion for fine craft and craft makers
  • Basic understanding of color, composition and design
  • Experience writing creatively to inspire different audiences
  • Experience developing and producing content for website and newsletters
  • Experience managing print production
  • Experience updating website content
  • Some experience working within nonprofits a plus
  • Attention to detail, analytical skill, decision-making ability

Environmental Conditions and Physical Demands:

  • Office is located in Germantown on the Neuhoff site.
  • Work requires stamina and strength, especially as it relates to coordinating load-out and general work for fairs.

Reports to: Executive Director

Status: Exempt

Benefits: Health insurance, paid vacation

Supervises: Volunteers/Interns

Hours:  General office hours are 8:30 – 5:30 pm, Monday – Friday, plus additional hours for events: two annual craft fairs, annual Board retreat, occasional representation at chapter meetings and other periodic events or meetings.
