GREETINGS FROM ANNE B. POPE, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Arts Advocacy Day is the one day each year set aside to build awareness for the arts, and this year it is March 4. Tennesseans for the Arts (TFTA) will host Arts Advocacy Day at the Tennessee State Museum. Registration, networking and breakfast will begin at 9:00 a.m.

The meeting will include a presentation by State Treasurer David Lillard regarding Tennessee’s new Specialty License Plate Gift Voucher program. You will not want to miss this first look at the exciting program that will allow Tennesseans to buy vouchers as gifts for friends, family, patrons and clients.

Directly after the close of the meeting at the State Museum, we invite everyone to join Treasurer Lillard and Senate Majority Leader Mark Norris, along with other important guests, at a press conference. It will be held in Committee Room 12 in the Legislative Plaza. This is a wonderful opportunity to show your support for the Tennessee Specialty License Plate Program—a critical source of funding for arts programming in communities and schools across Tennessee.

In the coming year, we will be working on promotions and communication tools you can use in your organizations to spread the word about the program. Along the way, we hope you will let us know what creative strategies you and your organizations are implementing to encourage sales.

Register for Arts Advocacy day at the TFTA website. Registration for the event is $25 for TFTA members and $30 for non-members. The deadline to register is Feb. 25.

See you there!
