Happy New Year!

GREETINGS FROM ANNE B. POPE, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Happy New Year! I hope everyone enjoyed the holidays. We are looking forward to an incredibly busy start of 2015 so I wanted to make sure you could get a few things down on your calendars right away.

On January 22 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., there will be an opening reception for Roby Cogswell, our former Folklife Director to celebrate his retirement and the opening of his photographic exhibit. The show is a reflection of 30 years of the Tennessee Arts Commission Folklife Program and opens on January 15, 2015. Everyone is invited to attend the reception and we hope you have the chance to see the show.

Tennessee’s Arts Advocacy Day will be March 4, 2015. We are planning for a great day of celebrating the arts and communicating with our legislators. Look for details in the coming weeks.

Please be aware of the approaching grant application deadlines. They are coming quickly. The panel meeting calendar is available on the website. Those meetings will begin March 25.

The Poetry Out Loud State Competition will be held on March 14 at the Nashville’s Children Theatre. We hope you can join us in supporting talented students from across the state as they compete for a shot at the National stage.

Lastly, the Governor’s Arts Awards recipients will be announced in late March.
