Be Sure Your Organization is Included in the Statewide Study of Nonprofit Arts and Culture in Tennessee

From Grace Robinson, Public Information and Research Coordinator —

As arts enthusiasts, we know the inherent value arts and culture bring to our communities. Now, through a partnership with Americans for the Arts (AFTA), Tennessee nonprofit arts and culture organizations have the opportunity to tell their story of arts impact through current hard data.

This data will help support the case for increased public and private sector arts and culture funding in your community and will generate significant visibility for arts and culture. The study will be a resource to use in conversation with stakeholders and local officials, for building marketing and promotion strategies, and a valuable advocacy tools. It will also allow for peer comparisons to similar cities, counties and states across the U.S.

How you can contribute

While data is being collected through two different surveys (click here to learn more) the most immediate way for you to participate is to be ready to respond to the Organizational Expenditure Survey. This online survey will request itemized information about fiscal year 2015 revenue, expenses, staff/volunteers and attendance.

Organizations across the state will be hearing from either the Tennessee Arts Commission or a local study partner, alerting you of the impending organizational survey. The survey will then be coming directly to your email inbox from AFTA on July 11.

You will be asked to respond to this survey by August 5. All information will be kept secure and confidential. A team of Georgia tech economists has been employed by AFTA to analyze the data, and the study will be released summer of 2017.
