The Nonprofit Technology Network (NTEN) operates under the belief that technology allows nonprofits to work with greater social impact. The organization is composed of nonprofit technology professionals and seeks to enable these individuals ” to strategically use technology to make the world a better, just and equitable place.”

While also creating communities to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and information, NTEN also provides professional development opportunities; educates on issues of technology use in nonprofits; and leads research, advocacy and education on technology issues affecting communities.

One of these groups is the Nonprofit Arts Community of Practice. This community hosts a virtual discussion board connecting  those specifically interested or involved with the intersection of nonprofit arts and technology.

The NTEN’s Nonprofit Arts Community of Practice will be hosting a conversation with arts organizations using mapping technology on September 22 at 2pm EST. Panelists will discuss their organizations use of technology to provide accessibility and interactivity, as well as to create stories and establish support. Panelists:

Another branch of NTEN is the Nonprofit Tech Academy. This nine-week program focuses on building a foundational understanding of the role, impact and best practices for strategically using technology in an organization.

The Nonprofit Tech Academy is now accepting applications for the 2015 Fall Cohort through September 20, 2015. The goal of the cohort community is to build a trusted network of peers who move through the series together and can turn to each other for advice and answers while working with a faculty of experts from around the country with extensive experience in the nonprofit sector.

Organizations applying for the program should be one of the following:

  • A legally recognized nonprofit
  • Fiscally sponsored organization
  • An all volunteer-based organization
  • Educational Institution
  • Library
