Alan Shuptrine Exhibit Opens at the Tennessee State Museum

Alan Shuptrine opened his solo museum exhibition with a private reception on May 18th at the Tennessee State Museum. The exhibition, "Alan Shuptrine: Appalachian Watercolors of the Serpentine Chain", features over 50 watercolors depicting the land, people, and culture along the Appalachian Trail. It highlights the traditions and cultural aspects the original settlers brought to the mountains from their British and Celtic way of life. Regional Art Exhibition

Fine art encompassing all styles and genres from both emerging and established artists will be showcased. The exhibition will be on display June 1- 31, 2017. An independent juror with significant ties to local, regional and national creative culture will review each application, select the participants and finally award monies totaling $3,500 to exceptional artists at the opening celebration. For the 2017 season, applicants must permanently live within 500 miles of the Dogwood Arts office.
