Register Your School for Poetry Out Loud 2020

Help your students master public speaking skills, strengthen relationships with peers and teachers, and create a lifelong appreciation for poetry and creative writing. Register your school for Poetry Out Loud (POL) by January 17, 2020.

FREE curricular materials aligned with NCTE ELA Standards, that can be easily folded into existing curriculum
• Cash prizes for students ranging from $150 – $20,000
• Fun, dynamic classroom activity that engages and excites students

POL is a national recitation competition organized by the Tennessee Arts Commission in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts and the Poetry Foundation. This dynamic literary arts program offers an opportunity for all students to succeed. The winner of each participating school will travel to Nashville for the exciting State Finals event, with a chance to win $1,000 and a trip to represent Tennessee in Washington, D.C. at the National Finals. Runners-up of both competitions will also receive cash prizes, as well as money for their school. POL is open to all public, private and homeschool students in grades 9-12 and encourages teachers of all subjects to participate.
